The dance costume can be as integral part of the routine as the steps themselves.  Even when the theme of the music isn’t clear enough to know that performer is a butterfly or a cheerleader or princess, the children’s dancewear selected for performances brings the routine to life in an artistic way.

Art Captures Innocense and Can Take Away the Troubles of the Day http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/05/art-captures-innocense-and-can-take-away-the-troubles-of-the-day/ http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/05/art-captures-innocense-and-can-take-away-the-troubles-of-the-day/#comments Fri, 15 May 2009 21:30:59 +0000 admin http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/05/art-captures-innocense-and-can-take-away-the-troubles-of-the-day/ I love Aboriginal art, have you noticed yet?

The other day I was looking around on a few artsy websites and found some rather unique paintings. I saw one that was of a child dancing, she had on what looked like the most beautiful children’s dancewear you could ever find. It was exquisite.

I simply love to see aboriginal art, but when it comes to painting people and the innocense of a child is captured, it is something amazing and I truly feel like a child again myself.

All the hussle and bustle of life goes awat when you look at art, ever notice that? We feel a moment at peace and contentment. Like that of a child.

Seeing Art Through Puffy Eyes http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/05/seeing-art-through-puffy-eyes/ http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/05/seeing-art-through-puffy-eyes/#comments Mon, 11 May 2009 21:38:59 +0000 admin http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/05/seeing-art-through-puffy-eyes/ Being a lover of aboriginal art and spending hours looking at paintings online and in the galleries, it is possible to conclude that I would suffer from red and puffy eyes.

I simply love looking at works on paper, paintings, prints and sculptures. I study and focus my eyes on the exact lines and crevices of the faces and landscapes as well. Not to mention, how much time you can spend looking at the Utopian Women’s Collection. They are simply wonderous.

Do you get red, itchy eyes from looking at paintins and some of your favorite works of art? Do you wake up in the morning like I do with puffy eyes that only worsen throughout the day from letting your eyes focus on too much accessible, beautiful art on the computer screen? :)

Perhaps I need to invest in some of that puffy eyes cream after all. I would much rather put $100 into my next favorite painting of Aboriginal art as opposed to an eye cream.

Aging is inevitable just like mum says.

Art Exhibit Looks Into The Eyes http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/04/art-exhibit-looks-into-the-eyes/ http://www.jmk-design.com/2009/04/art-exhibit-looks-into-the-eyes/#comments Mon, 27 Apr 2009 19:43:43 +0000 admin http://www.jmk-design.com/?p=10 The Coo-eee Gallery in Sydney has a unique exhibit in it’s Aboriginal Paintings Gallery.

While there are a number of paintings on exhibit, several drew the most attention from those attending the recent opening.  One painting in particular had  rather large crowd gathered around it and was quite the catalyst for discussion. Titled “Of Puffy Eyes“, the striking colors and deep hues used to create this very up-close rendering of an Australian Aboriginal was both breathtaking and provocative.

I read review in the Sydney Morning Herald that was very terse and quite unkind to the artist.  I couldn’t disagree more.

I invite you to look inot the eyes and tell me what you see.
